The Ministry of Education has released a 47-week school academic calendar for the 2023 academic year for both primary and secondary school students.
Through a press briefing, the Ministry of Education announced the normalization of the school academic calendar, starting from the 23rd of January 2023.

However, not everybody is in the same boat regarding the 2023 school academic calendar. On Thursday, the 5th of January 2023, the National Parents Association (NPA) Silas Obuhatsa urged the government to consider delaying the reinstatement of the normal school calendar.
Obuhatsa implored the Ministry of Education to allow Grade 6 learners enough time to transition to Junior Secondary Schools (JSS).
“The government has the right to postpone schools reopening for one or two months to have these structures in place before learning can resume,” said Obuhatsa.
