14 Schoolgirls Forgiven After Being Suspended For Taking Extra Share of Food
14 schoolgirls from Mugoiri Girls High School who had been suspended for allegedly serving meals meant for fellow students with health conditions have been forgiven.
The behaviour of the 14 school girls who had been suspended led to some students missing their meals on the 10th of January, 2022.
Mugoiri Principal Susan Mundia instructed the girls to return to school with their parents or guardians and appear before the school’s disciplinary committee.
“We are sending you home (from on the 19th of January to the 25th of January 2022) because of taking special meals reserved for others on the 16th of January 2022, leading to others missing their food,” she said.
The principal also ordered the students to pay a sum of Sh. 10,550 to cover for the meal that they took on the said day. The amounts were to cover for the meals they consumed as well as serve as a punishing reminder in future.
The principal revealed that she resolved for the amount following discussions with the management board of the school who advised the principal to readmit the learners unconditionally.
The principal also revealed that some parents called her to inquire about the suspension of their daughters.
“My deputy, who is only a week old in my school made the decision to suspend the students,” she added.
She revealed that the suspension was a mistake and that the suspension letters had since been withdrawn,
“We made a mistake but this happened when I was away. However, I take full responsibility for it since I am the head of the school.
“I also called the parents and issued them an apology to them because of what happened and they can now bring their daughters here to resume their studies,” said Principal Susan.
