KCSE Examination Results to be Released this Week

The Cabinet Secretary for Education Ezekiel Machogu has revealed that the Kenya Certificate of Secondary Education (KCSE) examination results will be out this week.

The National examination was done within three weeks from the 2nd of December 2022 by 884,263 candidates.

The marking of the KCSE examinations is in its final stage having started on the 2nd of January this year across 20 centers most of them being located in Nairobi County.

To ensure that the examination is free of any misconduct, a multi-agency team was tasked with overseeing the examinations.

Learners across the country are set to enjoy a normal calendar with the congested academic calendar over the past two or so years having been done away with. The shortened academic calendar was caused by the government’s closure of all learning institutions following the outbreak of COVID-19.

This was done to curb the spread of the global coronavirus pandemic.

The candidates who at the time of the outbreak of COVID-19 stayed at home for seven months before they resumed learning.

The candidates were hard done by but managed to complete their secondary school education having also undergone disruption occasioned by the August 9 General elections.

The Kenya National Examinations Council’s Chief Executive Officer (CEO) said that KPSEA results will be released on the 16th of January, 2023.

According to him, the results of the first-ever KPSEA examination will be released in three reports.

KPSEA will be reported in the following three levels:

  • Individual Learners Report for the summative assessment
  • School specific report
  • National Report on School-Based and Summative Assessments.

The national report will be used to provide feedback on intervention-requirements areas. The report will reveal learners’ percentage at each permanency level for each subject and strand.

He also revealed that the school-specific report will only cover certain schools.

Learners will also get individual learner reports showing their scores in certain subjects.

Parents and learners will be able to access their results through the school portal on the 16th of January 2023.
